Jennifer Dean- 5th Grade Teacher

My husband Colin and I both turned 40 this year. We’ve been married 18 years. He works in finance at Goldman Sachs. My son Ryan is 15. He is a Sophomore at Alta High School and he’s on the swim team. My son Evan is 12. He is a 7th grader at Indian Hills Middle School. He loves to rock climb.

For my undergraduate degree, I went to BYU.  I earned my masters degree from WGU in Learning and Technology.  In school, I always liked English & Writing. As a teacher I prefer Science and Math!

In my free time, I love to swim, ride my mountain and road bikes, visit national parks, and go skiing at Solitude.  I like to take vacations to National Parks. because they truly are “America’s greatest treasure.”

I love teaching here at Sprucewood! I got here in 2006 and have been connected to the school in many ways including: Full time teacher, part time teacher, PTA board member, volunteer, and substitute!

Lyndsey Sjogren - 4th grade teacher

My husband’s name is Matt and we have two of the cutest dogs in the world, Finn and Haze. I have two sisters and one brother and I am the oldest sibling in my family.  I went to Utah State University for my Bachelor’s degree.  I earned my Master’s degree from Southern Utah University.  My favorite subject in school is reading. I love to get lost in a good book; to learn new things, or explore new places. Reading takes us to new locations and opens up our minds to new adventures and ideas.

In my free time, I love to be outside; hiking with my husband and dogs, paddle boarding, and camping.  I love to vacation to new places that I have not been to yet. I love to explore new places and learn about new cultures. My favorite vacation I have been on so far was the Galapagos Islands.

I have two dogs, Finn and Haze. Finn is a German Shepherd/Siberian Husky Mix she is will six on October 23rd. Finn is an active dog who loves treats and hates to swim. Haze is a German Shepherd, he is full of energy, loves to play fetch, and swim. He is four years old.

I am so excited to be a Sprucewood Falcon!

Lisa Hirschi - Instructional Assistant

My husband Clark and I have been married for 31 years and have 3 grown daughters that all attended Sprucewood Elementary School.  I went to IVCC Illinois Valley Community College.  My favorite subject in school was English because I love to read!!!

In my free time, I like to hike, read, shop, travel and eat chocolate.  I have a 7 pound male Maltese (10) named Charlie. He thinks he is a 100 pound Rottweiler and we adore him. His main goal in life is to rid the world of cats and delivery personal.

I love to travel anywhere I can hike. I love Hawaii but canceled two trips there in 2020 because of Covid 19. I did a Mediterranean cruise last year for our 30th anniversary and loved it.

I have been at Sprucewood for almost 18 years. It’s been a great second home, but it is hard to say goodbye to all the teachers that have retired. A lot of people ask how I can work outside everyday for so long. It’s the second part of the job, helping the teachers, that gives me the most satisfaction.
