Faculty Spotlight – Sara Lee

Sara Lee is our Library Instructional Technician.

I was born in Salt Lake City, but I have lived in several place in Northern Utah, Southern Utah, and Southern Idaho. I’m so happy to be back and settled in the Salt Lake Valley, but I promised myself at 13 that I’d live in Southern California, someday and there’s still time to fulfill that promise. I graduated from Southern Utah University in 2003 with a degree in English. (I LOVE books!) While I was at SUU I met my husband, Matt. We’ve been married for 22 years and we have two children: Peyton, who is a sophomore at the U and Meryn who is a senior at Jordan High. We also share our house with two cats. One big orange and white tabby called Bronco (for the Denver Broncos) and one little gray and white cat called Blackbeard. He is nothing like a terrifying pirate, most of the time. Some of my favorite things to do are read, and watch TV. You can usually find me listening to show tunes or music from boy bands. I adore Disneyland, but I try to keep it from becoming my whole personality. The best rides are Space Mountain and Guardians of the Galaxy. My favorite foods are Greek and Mexican and I love to go out to eat. An interesting fact about me is that once I went to Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon in the same vacation.

My favorite thing about working at Sprucewood is the kids! Helping students find just the right book to read brings me so much joy. I also treasure the adult friendships I’ve made here. We have such a great school community and I honestly look forward to coming to work almost every day.
