  • Share SCC training dates provided by District

Our district expects all SCC members to attend training.  They would like new members to attend both class sessions. The basic class is meant as an introduction to SCC’s and LAND TRUST. The general class is what you will need to know to fulfill your SCC role this year.  All returning members are asked to attend the general class.  Please attend if you can!

September 18th

 Basic 9:00-9:45am  General 10:00-11:30am

-Schino will attend

October 3rd

Basic 5:30-6:15pm  General 1:00-2:30pm or 6:30-8:00pm

-Wall will attend

October 8th

General 10:00-11:30am or 6:00-7:30pm

  • Review last year’s LANDtrust plan, whether goals were met, how money was spent

ELA goal 80% typical to above typical growth (70%- not met)

Math goal 80% typical to above typical growth (77%- not met)

Budget Summary: We planned to spend $51,384.45 to pay for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) aide salaries (we used $46,284.45 and rolled over $5,100 to this year)

-LANDtrust money is what SCC votes on and decides where the money goes each year.

-New LANDtrust budget numbers for this year will be shared by district in October, Schino will share with the group once that budget is shared with Principals.

-We can roll over 10% of less of our LANDtrust budget to the following year.

-Great news!  This years budget allows us to  bring in a 3rd ELA MTSS aid and a 2nd MATH MTSS aid (job listings will be posted for the positions on Sept. 10th).

  • School Safety Report
    • Safety Report link on District website https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/safe-schools/
      • Watch this video by the Oct. 14th meeting!
    • Read through the report and watch videos of your choice PRIOR to attending meeting
    • Come ready to discuss the questions below in black:
      • SCC will answer the questions during the Oct. 14th meeting.
      • We will need to decide our #1 concerns for this year
        • Come with an idea for the next meeting!
        • Currently we do not have any outlier behavior data for the 2024-2025 school year
          • If this changes Schino will share before the next meeting.
        • Choose your concern based on 1 of the 8 sections from the district website link provided above
        • In October we will have our Librarian  join us to talk about the digital citizenship plan, and our Social Worker join us to talk about the safety plan

Did you feel the information presented in the District School Community Council School Safety Report was helpful?

What, if any, school safety items did your SCC discuss that were not in the report?

  • 10th East Crossing Guard concern, she must be on the school side, but there is lack of visual on her.  Request for a second crossing guard.
  • Gates for the playground area

Your SCC has been asked to determine the #1 safety concern at your school after reading the report and discussing safety topics at your school. What has your SCC determined to be the #1 safety concern for your school?

What additional items did you identify as primary concerns, if any?

Does your SCC have an action plan to help address the concern?

Yes. Would like to be able to come back to the idea of PTA paying for Book Blitz if it is a PTA organization. Could it be sponsored?  Can we get a breakdown of how we are spending on staff wellness and conference dinners. See if we need more or less.
